Our Work: Creating Change for Future Generations

Responsible People Foundation focuses on three key areas: community development, environmental recovery, and conservation. Our work centers on restoring forests that have been lost over time due to indiscriminate logging and promoting sustainable living within Andean communities.

We collaborate closely with families in the heart of Peru, offering training and educational workshops on environmental conservation for both young and older generations. Through these initiatives, we help improve quality of life in the Andes, provide social support, and create new sources of income through reforestation and community-based tourism — empowering families to share their Andean traditions through authentic cultural experiences.

Social Development & Improving Lives

We harness the power of tourism to create meaningful social and environmental projects in highland Andean villages. Our mission is to inspire positive change while teaching communities about environmental protection and sustainable practices.

Peru faces numerous challenges — from climate change and natural resource depletion to widespread poverty. While tourism can sometimes contribute to these problems, such as ecosystem degradation or cultural loss, it also holds tremendous potential to be part of the solution. With responsible planning and management, tourism can become a driving force for sustainable development in both urban and rural areas of Peru.

Social Development & Improving Lives

The Responsible People Foundation works hand in hand with local authorities, communities, organizations, and ethical travel companies to create a more sustainable future. We envision a world defined by protected natural areas, fair trade, cultural preservation, and travelers who actively contribute to a better planet through responsible tourism choices.

Environmental Recovery

The Amazon Rainforest, often called the “Lungs of the World,” covers nearly 70% of Peru. The country’s diverse geography — from mountains and jungles to deserts and coastlines — sustains an extraordinary variety of plants, animals, and human communities that depend on the land for survival. Unfortunately, these vital ecosystems are under constant threat from deforestation, exploitation, and unsustainable agriculture. Biodiversity loss continues at an alarming rate.

Because tourism often flourishes in areas rich in natural beauty, it carries both a responsibility and an opportunity: to promote environmental awareness and support conservation. Without active protection, however, tourism can become a threat to fragile ecosystems — especially in the Amazon.

Environmental Recovery

In the Andes, deforestation has deeply affected local biodiversity, as nearby communities rely on wood for cooking and construction. With the help of volunteers and our partner adventure travel companies, the Responsible People Foundation is restoring native forests and providing environmental education to encourage long-term stewardship of the land.

Waste & Water Conservation

The planet’s natural resources are precious and essential for life, yet they are often overused and polluted. Many rural areas of Peru face major waste management and sanitation challenges due to limited infrastructure. Poor waste disposal harms not only the environment but also the health of local people and wildlife. Water sources, in particular, are vulnerable to contamination and overuse, creating shortages that affect entire communities.

Tourism can play a powerful role in raising awareness and promoting sustainable practices, but without careful management, it can also contribute to waste buildup and water scarcity.

With the support of volunteers and donations from our partner travel operators, the Responsible People Foundation is taking action to address these urgent issues. Together, we’re restoring damaged areas, protecting vital ecosystems, and building a culture of environmental responsibility.

We know this mission is ambitious — but every small step makes a difference.

Your support, whether through volunteering or donations, helps us clean tourist trails and rivers, provide social assistance to remote communities, and lead reforestation projects across Peru. Together, we can make the world a better place, starting with the Andean communities and reaching across our beautiful country.
