Family Planning and Community Wellbeing
The Responsible People Foundation is committed to supporting women and men in Andean communities through education on family planning and overall family wellbeing. Our goal is to help families make informed decisions, improve health conditions, and create a better future for their communities.
Our medical team, including Ana, a dedicated doctor, and a trained nurse, visited local communities to lead informative and supportive sessions. During these meetings, they spoke about the importance of family planning, reproductive health, and the care of both women and men. Participants received guidance on child healthcare, disease prevention, and safe, responsible approaches to sexuality and family planning.
These sessions were interactive and welcoming. Laughter, curiosity, and open conversations filled the space as community members asked questions and shared their experiences. While many men initially felt shy discussing topics related to sexuality, they gradually became more comfortable thanks to the respectful and inclusive environment created by our team. In the Patacancha community, more than 30 participants—including women and men—joined the session and actively engaged in the discussions.
In addition to family planning, our team also provided guidance on child nutrition, health, and daily care. We identified cases of malnutrition among children and offered practical advice on how families can improve their diets using locally available foods. Since many families have access to farmland, we encouraged sustainable food practices and shared ideas for improving nutrition through home-grown produce.
During the visit, we also spoke with women who had prior knowledge of family planning, many of whom had received education in school. Their insights helped strengthen the conversation and encouraged others to participate more openly.
The Responsible People Foundation continues to organize follow-up visits, bringing new programs, support initiatives, and development projects aimed at improving the quality of life for families and benefiting the entire community.
