Milagros Valery Toledo is the co-founder of Responsible People. She had the vision of using tourism as a way to support and uplift local communities. Valery was born in Cusco in 1978 and currently lives there with her family. She completed her primary and secondary education at Clorinda Matto de Turner School. She later studied Education at the Bernabé Cobo Institute, where she developed a strong interest in teaching and in learning about the culture and history of the Andean people. She then continued her professional training as a tour guide at Antonio Lorena Institute, where she expanded her knowledge of tourism and learned English. Over the years, she worked in childcare centers and schools, helping educate children and sharing her passion for learning. Driven by her commitment to responsible tourism, Valery founded the travel agency Inca Trail Machu. Through this initiative, she began developing projects to support porters and their families. As her company grew, she co-created Responsible People to expand this mission. Valery’s mission is to improve the quality of life of porter families and Andean communities by creating sustainable projects that generate real opportunities. Her dream is to contribute to a better world by helping others—and today, that dream is becoming a reality.
