Destination & Holidays

Peru is also one of the most spectacular countries on earth. Its veriety is astonishing; scientists have ascertained that of 103 possible ecological zones, Peru has 83 crowded into its borders. As a result, the country has virtually every possible physical attraction.

The Peruvian Andes have become a mecca for trekkers and mountain climbers,as weel as those who want to enjoy dramatic mountain scenery in a more leisurely fashion. Over half of Peru is part of the Amazon Jungle. And the coastel strip of Peru is one of the world´s driest desert.

Despite its rugged and often inhospitable landscap, Peru ranks amongst the world´s great centers of anciente civilization. The sunworshipping Incas are only the most famous in a long line of highliydeveloped cultures that thrived thousands of years before the arrivalof Europeans. Their remains fascinate travellers and archaeologists alike. Along with the stuning Inca ruins near Cusco such as Sacsayhuaman, Pukapukara, Tambomachay, Pisac, Ollantaytambo, Moray, Chinchero, Huchuyqosqo, Inca Quarry, Pre-Inca Culture "Pikillacta" and the "lost city of the Incas" of Machu Picchu, far from Cusco, Choquequirao, Vilcabamba and Espiritu Pampa, Peru is home to the Nazca lines etched on itis coastal deserts. Colla burial chullpas near Lake Titicaca, the enormous adobe city of Chan Chan, the Caral Pyramds and Moche burial site of the lord of Sipan, the second Machu Picchu - Kuelap and Chachapoyas. The fact that we know very little about these cultures - they left no written records, just mysterious works in gold, silver and stone - only seems to add to the fascination. See colorful butterflies, monkeys and jaguars in Manu National Park or Amazon on Iquitos or Puerto Maldonado. Spot sea lions and flamingos at Paracas National Reservation and the stunning Ballestas Islands.
