Machu Picchu Tickets

13 September 2018

Getting access to the Archaeological Park of Machu Picchu is not as simple as it seems, but it is definitely not very difficult. Regulated under the administration of the Regional Directorate of Culture (Cusco), if you want to get a ticket, you must book it through its website.

In addition, once you have made your reservation official, you will have a maximum of six hours to go to the offices of the Ministry of culture (Avenida la Cultura nº 238, in the Huáscar condominium) or the Banco de la Nación in Peru to cancel the stipulated amount of the Machu Picchu tickets.

If you exceed this time, you must start the reservation again. And if you are a student and want to buy this ticket, you should go to the same ministry or to the Culture Center located in Aguas Calientes with your ISIC student card, and keep in mind that they will not accept any other type of documents.

Is there only one type of ticket to Machu Picchu?

No, as everything that has to do with tourism, more if we talk about an architectural wonder like Machu Picchu, there are different packages.

We have to clarify that the one that says "individual ticket" does not mean that it is for a single individual, the tickets around this tourist area have to do with the different places to which you can have access, not the number of people.

Each ticket, by itself is individual. Now, then, we name you the ones that appear with the best references on the web:

Only Machu Picchu

This ticket includes the entrance to the city of Machu Picchu, which can be used multiple times respecting the date of issuance of the ticket and taking into account the hours of access to the Machu Picchu Sanctuary.

Normally this is from six in the morning to five in the evening in local time.

Tickets to Machu Picchu + Huayna Picchu

This ticket, like the previous one, will allow you to enter the archaeological site of Machu Picchu, but add the extra that you can visit the Huayna Picchu mountain, another of the great attractions that Peru can offer you.

  • First group Huayna Picchu from 07:00 - 08:00 hours.
  • Second group Huayna Picchu from 10:00 - 11:00 hours.

This is an extra experience that you can achieve if you buy tickets to Machu Picchu, so consider this option very carefully. Only 400 people can access per day in 2 groups, so we recommend booking in advance. It will be an unforgettable experience.

Tickets to Machu Picchu + The Mountain

With this ticket you will not only have the right to access Machu Picchu, but also ascend to a mountain of 3,082 m.s.n.m. located inside the Inca City and from where you can have a panoramic view of the entire landscape that surrounds the city. Unlike the Huayna Picchu, this is less steep, being ideal for travelers who like quiet walks. The duration of the walk is 3hrs 30 min, and has a capacity of 80o people per day divided into 02 groups. First group Machu Picchu Mountain from 07:00 - 08:00 hours. Second group Machu Picchu Mountain from 09:00 - 10:00 hours.
